Get in Shape for the New Year!

It’s resolution time and one goal that tops many lists is to exercise and get in shape. To help you stick to that promise, the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is hosting a free Teen Fitness class.

So come in out of the cold and shape up!

Certified fitness instructor Beth Howser will present an exercise and nutrition class just for 6th grade and above. Don't let gray winter days sap your energy; come to the library and get pumped up! Learn some great fitness techniques you can do on your own without fancy equipment. Classes will be offered at all three library branches.

Bealeton branch library - 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 13
Warrenton central library - 4:30 p.m., Monday, January 26
John Marshall branch library - 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 27

Reading suggestions to keep the workout momentum going:

Fitness Training for Girls - this guide to resistance training, conditioning and nutrition offers advice on the importance of physical fitness, and recommends a program of exercises--including stretching, using gym equipment, and weight lifting--and a healthy diet.

Get Strong - a guide to building confidence, muscles, and a great future for teenage guys.

runningdreamRunning Dream - an inspiring story of learning to run again. Jessica loses her leg in a school bus accident and returns to school with a prosthetic limb. But her former track team finds a way to help rekindle her dream of running again.

Losing it - Tired of being the fat kid, 13-year-old Bennett joins the cross country team to find out if there is more to life than French fries. A heartfelt and humorous take on a serious subject.
